To further develop the understanding of the Diagnostic & Statistical Manual on Mental Disorders (DSM), the Psychology Society conducted a forum entitled DSM-5: What’s New and Why at the AVR, July 22.

Dr. Roger Dale Davis, a visiting professor from the Department of Psychology at Ateneo de Manila University, served as the event’s guest speaker. As the DSM had been reprinted into its fifth edition (DSM-5) by the American Psychiatric Association (APA), Dr. Davis discussed the improvements of the current edition over the previous one (DSM-IV), and the limitations underlying beneath it. The open forum segment became the center of the event as it was conducted to keep abreast in the latest developments in the field of clinical psychology.

The main venue was filled with more than a hundred participants including Psychology students and faculty members from SASE. SASE Dean Dr. Teresita Paed-Pedrajas gave an inspirational message. The Vice President for Academics & Research Dr. Nilda Balsicas welcomed the participants, which included faculty and student representatives from Southville International School & Colleges, University of Perpetual Help System Dalta Las Piñas, Lipa City Colleges, and Emilio Aguinaldo College-Dasmariñas. Among the guests, Southville school sent the biggest delegation with 24 students accompanied by 2 professors.  BS Psychology Students Mary Adrian Bautista (PSY2) and Joyce Andrea Gillegao (PSY3) served as masters of ceremony.
