For the improvement of the education provided by the School of International Tourism and Hospitality Management (SIHTM), SDCA constructed a Standard Hotel Room situated at the fourth floor of the SDCA Basic Education Building.

Professor Alejandro D. Magnaye, SITHM’s dean, proposed this room to SDCA President Dr. Gregorio A. Andaman. The Philippine Association of Colleges and Universities Commission on Accreditation (PACUCOA) recommended the school administration to construct this room as a requisite to gain accreditation and for the students of SIHTM to experience hands-on training for household keeping.

The Standard Room is composed of two beds, a bathroom, closet, couch, and appliances such as a television, air-conditioner, and a refrigerator. To use the laboratory, a request is needed to authorize those who want to utilize the facility. Ms. Rhea Tolibas, Ms. Grace Ann Layola and Mr. Eric Longanilla were authorized Custodians of the standard room.

According to Mr. Daniel Albert C. Luansing, a 3rd year student taking Bachelor in Science Hospitality Management (BSHM), having a standard room was very convenient because the students will have an idea about what they will do if they are going to handle real Room Service. House-keeping is required to be practiced since training is mandatory for those taking an NC-II in Housekeeping to prepare for their future job.
