The Miami Heat is a professional basketball team based in Miami, Florida, United States. The team is a member of the Southeast Division in the Eastern Conference of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Heat has won three league championships, in 2006, 2012 and this year, 2013.
The Championship this year between Miami Heat and San Antonio Spurs had astonished the world, not only the sports enthusiasts, mainly because of the intensity and the heart-breaking ending of the season.
The NBA Finals has gotten so deep that created noise to the whole nation in the world especially here in the Philippines where basketball is an enthusiastic sport. The craziness of the Filipinos in the NBA especially to the Miami Heat has taken them so high because of the love and support of the Filipinos to this sport especially that Mr. Erik Spoelstra, the team’s coach, is half-Filipino.
Here are simple points that I’ve pondered why Filipinos love this team.
First, most of the Filipinos bet for the Miami Heat than the San Antonio Spurs in this year’s NBA Finals. Second, Lebron James is the ace player of Heat which won the last year’s MVP that give edge on their team. Mostly, Heat won the last season that made them gained thousands of supporters around the world.
Everyone was eager to watch the final game of this season. We can see that every Filipino became a fan of this Basketball Team and we can associate this kind of craze when our very own Gilas Pilipinas Basketball Team fought in the FIBA Asia 2013.
