Camping—however dirty and adventurous it may be for those who are introverted and are forever comfortable in the safety of their house—is where one may experience things that he can never experience while inside his home and have fun in the exciting wilderness of nature.

Unfortunately for the Multimedia Arts students of SDCA, this kind of camping was never pushed through.  So as to simulate the idea of camping all the happiness of the great outdoors, the Red Concepts, the official MMA organization of SDCA, established what is known now as the SDCA Art Camp.

Initially, it was planned to be an overnight activitiy outside of the school but due to some circumstances, it was just held in the SDCA’s Studio Theatre for one day.

“To further the study of the concepts nung mga subjects and also to hear it from practitioners, kasi most of the speakers that we [invited] are really good practitioners, so we can hear the ideas directly from them.  It is a must for them” stated by Prof. Jay Jimenez, MMA professor, when we asked why do MMA students need to do the activity.

As stated by Mr. Jimenez, practitioners from outsided the school were invited  to enhance the knowledge of MMA students and enthuse them more about the arts and, of course, to discuss various topics namely comics, nude portrait photography with the model covered only in body paint, and a different form  of painting where instead of adding more colors, you would attempt to remove to colors using chlorine and make and image out of it.

As of now, we can only expect that the next SDCA Art Camp to be more exciting and provide wider arrays of learning in the field of arts. (And for it to be seriously called camping)
